Mildred Perry White, 93, of Mechanicsville went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2011, at Hanover Health Care.
Mrs. White was born July 31, 1917, in Stafford County to the late John Smith and Isabel (Bell) Smith. She was a member of Ray of Hope Church in Richmond. She also was a member of the Salvation Army. Mildred was a former longtime Fredericksburg resident and lived independently in her home in Mechanicsville until this past year. She loved gardening, especially roses. Mildred loved going to church and always trusted in the Lord to take care of her.
Mrs. White was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her children, Herman W. Perry; her second husband, Rudy White; her infant son Kenneth Warren Perry; three sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors include her sons Richard L. Perry of Ashland, the Rev. Thomas Perry and his wife, Nancy, of Chesterfield and Donald Perry and Nina Teel of Mechanicsville; her daughters, Mildred Mastin and her husband, Gerald, of Spotsylvania County and Patricia Webb and her husband, Charles, of Blackstone; two sisters, Laura Summers and Mary Smith Staples, both of Stafford; a very special niece, Vicki Samuels of Mechanicsville; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Brent Vickery officiating. Interment will follow in Ramoth Baptist Church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Mastin, Mike Nethery, Matthew Nethery, Richard Cottrell, Carlton Mastin and Paul Minor.
