Loretta Elease Hagan Simmons, age 72, passed away at her home on December 17, 2018.

She was born June 26, 1946 in Frisco City, Alabama to Gaston and Violet Bailey Hagan.

Ms. Simmons was a resident of Troy, Alabama.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. from the Parlor of Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.

She married a local Troy boy, William Simmons, Jr., shortly after graduating Charles Henderson High School in 1964.

They traveled with the United States Air Force to Selma, Alabama; Myrtle Beach, SC; RAF Lakenheath, England; and Homestead Air Force Base, Florida.

After seventeen years in South Florida and the devastation from Hurricane Andrew, she moved back to her hometown of Troy, Alabama.

In South Florida, she had a career as a merchandiser and as a self-employed contractor for Mortgage Servicing Companies, which she continued after her move back to Troy in March 1993, until she retired.

Up until her illness in October 2018, she thoroughly enjoyed working and the many friends she made at The Pioneer Museum (Conecuh River Depot Military Museum) in Troy, Alabama.

She loved her family, friends and the many dogs she has owned over the years. She enjoyed fishing, spending time with her grandchildren, and her most recent beloved dog, Teddy.

Ms. Simmons is preceded in death by her parents, Gaston and Violet Bailey Hagan, her brother, Larry Gaston Hagan, and her loving companion, John Raulerson.
