REXVILLE - Mable L. Greene, 93, formerly of the Rough & Ready Road, Rexville, entered into rest Friday (May 25, 2007) at Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville.

Mable was born Aug. 22, 1913, in Greenwood, to Arthur and Amina (Atkins) York. On Jan. 11, 1930, she married Merle F. Greene, who predeceased her May 21, 1992. She also was predeceased by a son, Burdette Greene; two brothers, Burrell and Jesse York; and one sister, Rachel Wallace.

Mable had been a life-long resident of the Greenwood/Rexville area before residing in the Wellsville Manor Health Care Facility. She had at one time been employed at the former Westinghouse light bulb manufacturing plant in Bath.

Survivors include three daughters, Elaine Druetto, of Wellsville, Eleanor Shelly, of Dubois, Pa., and Kathleen (Karl) Crittenden, of Greenwood; her son, Thomas (Nancy) Greene, of Andover; 17 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior calling hours. Funeral and committal services will take place at the convenience of the family at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 E. Main St., Canisteo. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Mable Greene's name may be made to the Ambulance Fund of the Greenwood Fire Department, c/o Mason Burdick, Greenwood, NY 14839.
