DUNN -- Ben Hartsfield, 82, of Dunn died Monday in his home.
Mr. Hartsfield was a World War II veteran. He owned and operated East Carolina Construction Co., as well as writing the Ben's Slant column for the Dunn Daily Record for several years. Mr. Hartsfield was a state building inspector before retiring.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday in Divine Street United Methodist Church by the Revs. Francis Daniel and Paul Hartsfield. Arrangements are being handled by Skinner Funeral Home.
Mr. Hartsfield is survived by two daughters, Domini Boling of Apex and Andri Hartsfield of New York; two brothers, the Rev. Paul Hartsfield of Sarasota, Fla., and Joseph Hartsfield of Lake City, Fla.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends after the service at the church.
