Howard West, 75, of Burgin, husband of Doris West, died Saturday December 15, 2018 at his residence. Born January 21, 1943 in Garrard County, he was the son of William West and Dorothy Harrison Reed. He was retired from the State of Kentucky having worked at Kentucky State Hospital, Danville Youth Development Center, and Northpoint Training Center. Howard enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors besides his wife include one son Jeffrey Alan (Jennifer) West of Gravel Switch; one daughter Donna Mae Drury of Harrodsburg; one brother J.W. (Ova) West of Nancy; one sister Darlene (Wayne) Lister of Danville; four grandchildren: Michael West, Shay West, Whitney Drury, and Amanda Mattingly; five great grandchildren: Breanna West, Brayden West, Jason West, Abby Rose May, and Mason West.He was preceded in death by his Step Father James E. Reed and two sisters Ann Simpson and Maxine Wilson.Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home with Cecil Lay and Gil Lay officiating. Burial will be in Burgin Memorial Gardens with Michael West, Gil Lay, Durand Lay, Michael Turner, Justin Hawk, and Brandon Wilson serving as active pallbearers. Howard’s grandchildren, great grandchildren, Charles Lawson, and Billy Turner will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at the Alexander & Royalty Funeral Home.
