Dale Darrell Brady passed away peacefully at home in Van Nuys, California, on August 19, after 91 years of a love-filled life.

Born June 11, 1927, in Montrose, Colorado, to William and Louise Brady, Dale grew up harvesting crops, tending to farm animals and attending school at the Coal Creek Elementary schoolhouse with his brothers, John and Ronald.

His mother was widowed young and moved the family to California. Dale enlisted in the U.S. Navy as soon as he could, serving honorably in World War II as an Aviation Electronics Technician, first class, on the USS F.D. Roosevelt, USS Midway, USS Mindoro and USS Sicily. In 1951 he was called from the reserves during the Korean War to teach electronics at the Naval Air Technical Training Command (NATTC) in Memphis.

Back in California, Dale earned a Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from UCLA in 1956. He returned to UCLA to earn his Master’s Degree in 1970. He was a member of Tau Beta Pi, the engineering honor society.

Over a 33-year career as an aerospace engineer with Hughes Aircraft, Dale worked on such groundbreaking projects as the Surveyor Program to the moon and the F-14 Tomcat. He was also proud to be an advisor to the local Junior Achievement program.

Dale’s top priority was always his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Janet Brady, and their five loving children: Jeff Brady, Ken (Teresa) Brady, Debbie (Greg) Diez, Dalet Brady and Kimmerly Brady. He was incredibly proud of his eight grandchildren: Sandie, Sarah, Erin, Nicholas, Joseph, Daniel, Felix and Declan. And he loved spending time with his six great-grandchildren: Tasha, Liam, Zach, Caden, Miles and Brady.

Dale was a champion bridge player and huge football fan. He especially enjoyed watching Bruin football, as a lifetime member of the UCLA Alumni Association. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, papa, uncle and friend who was always happy to share a beer, a joke and a smile and to spread his infectious laughter.

A Visitation will be held at Mission Hills Catholic Mortuary on Friday, August 31, 2018 from 5:00pm - 9:00pm. Mass will be at St. Euphrasia's Catholic Church on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at 10:00am. Burial will be at San Fernando Mission Cemetery following the Mass.
