William B. Cantwell age 69, member of a prominent pioneer Madison family died on Tuesday Feb. 11, 1986, after a long illness. He was born in Madison on March 30, 1916. In his active years, Bill was an avid golfer, officer of the Cantwell Printing Company, President of Automatic Bulletins, President of Waterways Guides, President of Catholic Art Services and Editor and Publisher of "The Rosary for World Peace", a publication which was honored by Cardinal Stritch of Chicago in 1954 in a nationally televised Holy Week Program. He was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Middleton and the Knights of Columbus #4549.
He is survived by his wife, the former Florence Lacke, one daughter, Beverly of Middleton; seven sons, Michael (Jeanette) of Madison; Jeffrey of Middleton; Roger (Charlotte) of Waunakee; Stephen of Tulsa, Okla.; Patrick (Jeanne), P. Thomas (Sue Ellen) and Edward, all of Middleton; 15 grandchildren, one great-grandson, and his sister, Mary (Jack) Pick of West Bend.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother John; a son Daniel; a daughter Constance Jordee; and a granddaughter, Patti Cantwell.
Funeral services were held at St. Bernard's Catholic Church on Saturday, Feb. 15, 1986 with Fr. Joseph Higgins officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Friends called on Friday, Feb. 14 at the Gruber-Gunderson Funeral Home, Middleton where a scripture service was held followed by the Knights of Columbus rosary.
