Funeral services for Albert J. Speer, 75, of 100 Fairfield St., West Monroe, were to be held at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Mulhearn's Funeral Home in West Monroe with the Rev. John Sewell and the Rev. Ira Love officiating.

Masonic graveside services were to be held in Memorial Park Cemetery, with Masons serving as pallbearers.

Mr. Speer died at 6 p.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Hospital after a short illness.

A native of North Little Rock, Ark., he was a member of McGuire United Methodist Church. Mr. Speer retired in 1965 as a road foreman of engines for Missouri Pacific Railroads after 46 years of service.

He was a Shriner and a 32nd Degree Mason.

Mr. Speer was a veteran of World War I, when he served in the Navy, and was a veteran of World War II, when he served in the railroad transportation corps with the rank of captain.

Survivors include the widow, Laurie Chism Speer of West Monroe; one son, Roy C. Speer of Houston, Tex.; one daughter, Mrs. Betty Young of Monroe; one brother, Ralph E. Speer of Monroe; one sister, Mrs. Doris Gardner of North Little Rock, Ark.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
