Feldmann, it is said, had touched the horses hitched to a carriage with a whip and they ran away. He was on his way to O'Fallon to a funeral. The injured man was removed to St. Vincent's Hospital in the Brichler Buchholz ambulance. The horses and carriage were stopped at Glen Addie.
