Enlisted as a Sapper, Service number 2010032 in the Canadian Engineers, Canadian Expeditionary Force in Pittsburgh, Pa. on 18 May 1918. He served in France and Belgium with the Canadian Engineers and was discharged from the service by reason of demobilization on 1 May 1919.
