Joe Evans Cassady, 85, of Pine Bluff, died peacefully Sunday, December 9, 2018 at home among family.
He was born December 21, 1932 in Nashville, Arkansas, son of Henry Julian Cassady and Mattie Ida Feemster Cassady.
Joe was raised and received his early education in Nashville, graduating from Nashville High School. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Arkansas Polytechnic College in Russellville (now Arkansas Tech University).
After serving in the Army, he worked as a band director for several schools, including Hampton, Wabbaseka, Helena and White Hall before opening his own piano tuning business.
He also served as music director at First Baptist Church of Hampton and Zion Baptist Church of Fordyce, Arkansas.
Joe was a member of First Baptist Church of Pine Bluff. He enjoyed woodworking and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Betty Lou Primm Cassady.
Survivors include his son, David Cassady (Rejeana) of Lexington, KY; his daughter, Sherry Cassady of Pine Bluff; grandchildren, Tristen Hastings, Cassady Schuck, Jonathan Cassady (Melissa), Megan Carpenter (Adam); and a great-grandson, Cameron Hastings.
