Aileen Dodd Rogers,age 91, a life-time resident of Nashville, TN passed away on Dec 7, 2018 from complications due to a stroke.
Aileen led a rich life and was dedicated to her family, friends and church. Her charming personality and compassionate smile were rays of sunshine to everyone whom she met. Aileen attended Howard School and went on to graduate from Draughons Business College in 1946.
In 1950, she married her loving husband of 59 years, Robert “Jack” Jackson Rogers, to whom she devoted her life and had 5 children. Her family was her pride and joy. She was a smart business woman who went on to co-found The Sunshine Shop in Nashville, TN in 1954 and made it her life’s work to send thoughtful gifts on behalf of others. She was a devoted, longtime member of Belmont United Methodist Church and the Jesse Rustin Sunday School Class, where she met cherished, life-long friends. She was a lifetime member of the Woman’s Club of Nashville serving as President from 1981-1983. Her dedication, generosity and kindness will be missed.
Preceded in death by her parents, James E. and Agnes Piper Dodd; her husband, Jack Rogers, brother, James E. Dodd Jr and sister, Edna Tombs.
She is survived by her children, Jackie Rogers, Janet Rogers (Chester) Stewart, Jim Rogers, and Jennie Rogers (Kenny) West of Nashville, TN, and John A. (Deanna) Rogers of Bowling Green, KY and seven grandchildren, Joseph, Heather and Catherine Stewart, Hunter Long, and Maegan, McKenize and Macy Dee Rogers.
Visitation will be held on Friday Dec. 14 at Belmont United Methodist Church from 5:30-7:30 pm. The funeral service will be conducted from Belmont United Methodist Church on Saturday Dec 15 at 11:00 am. A one hour visitation at the church will precede the funeral service. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
