An auto salesman; formerly worked at the Spartanburg Herald-Journal; member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Spartanburg Lions Club, St. John's Masonic Lodge #33, and Hejaz Shrine Temple.
Other survivors include his son, Steve Howard; sister, Audrey Hayes; brother, Farrell Franklin Howard (1932–2005); and one granddaughter.
Services were held at 3:00 pm, January 28, 1987, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel by Rev. Delno McMinn; burial with Masonic rites in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
