CLAYTON – Sarah Faye Rittenbury Rose, age 84, died Saturday, December 1, 2018 in the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield. Born April 17, 1934 in Nash County, she was a daughter of the late Wade and Lottie Boykin Rittenbury. A graduate of Selma High School she was the captain of the 1951 Johnston County Girls High School Basketball Championship Team. She also enjoyed playing softball and in later years loved to league bowl with family and friends. Sarah was a longtime member of the Shiloh Baptist Church. She enjoyed family gatherings, traveling vacations and any time she could spend with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2018 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oakland Heights Cemetery in Smithfield.

Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Odes Graham Rose; sons, Colonel Michael G. Rose (USA, Ret) and his wife Carolyn of Oak Hill, VA and Peter Wade Rose and his wife Jean and Willie Rex Rose and his wife Robin all of Clayton; two grandchildren, Timothy Rose (Ashley) and Samantha Dillon (Matt) and four great-grandchildren, Jordyn Strother, Hailey Rose, Reagan Rose and Adalyn Dillon.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. just prior to the service.
