Iva D. Gaddis, 83, of Bloomington, passed away at 1:07 a.m. Friday (Nov. 30, 2018) at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.

Iva was born June 28, 1935 in Bobtown, Kentucky, the daughter of Alfred Jack and Ada Crockett Smith. She married Robert M. Gaddis on Dec. 26, 1952 at the United Methodist Church, Ellsworth. He passed away Nov. 15, 2004.

Surviving are her three children, Valerie (Tom) Eggers, Bloomington, Denise (Roger) Heerdt, Bloomington and Robert “Denny” (Patty) Gaddis, LeRoy; two grandchildren, Melissa (Ron) Safarik, Austin, Texas and Greg (Nicole) Gaddis, LeRoy and four great-grandchildren, Sydney and Natalie Safarik, Avery and Brynn Gaddis.

Iva was also preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings.

Iva attended Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomington. She had been the administrative secretary for Tri-Valley School District 3 for 34 years before retiring to Bemidji, Minnesota. She was an avid reader and enjoyed flowers. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family. Iva was a fabulous cook. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Iva didn't know a stranger and was a generous to a fault. She was loved by many.
