He was born Sept. 14, 1932, the son of Roy W. and Mae (Bennett) Bell Jr. in Campbellsville, Ky. He moved to Sandwich in 1950.
He leaves behind his wife of almost 65 years, Carolene; three daughters, Dinah (Stephen) Meyers, Sandy (Denny) Matile, Shelly (Don) Zachary; one son, Gary (Michele) Bell; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was employed at Caterpillar Tractor in Aurora for 30 years, retiring in 1988. He and Carolene enjoyed many winters in Florida during their retirement. He loved sports, especially the St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bears. He was an avid golfer in his younger days and during the first few years of his retirement. He organized and managed Little League and girls softball in Sandwich. He also organized, managed, coached and played in an independent basketball team in the area.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at Beverage Family Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, at the funeral home followed by graveside service in Oakridge Cemetery in Sandwich.
