A service to celebrate the life of WB Lindsey will be held at Blanchard St Denis Funeral Home on Monday, December 3, 2018. Visitation will be at 9 am with services beginning at 10 am. A graveside service will follow at Liberty Baptist Cemetery in Martin, Louisiana. Reverend Tommy Rush will officiate.
Wilder Bloomer Lindsey, affectionately known as WB, was born on August 14, 1922 in Coushatta, La to Aaron and Gracie Lindsey. He was one of 14 children. He grew up in the Martin community of Red River Parish where he attended school, helped with the family farm, worked as a logger, and drove the school bus. On Ausust 1, 1942, WB married the love of his life, Dorothy White. Soon after, he served on the USS Heywood in the Pacific during WWII. He and his wife settled in Natchitoches, La in 1946 following the war. Throughout the years in Natchitoches, WB built his plumbing business. As a plumber, there was no time too late or too inconvenient to go out and fix a leak or burst pipe. He will be remembered by many as a truly honest man who was always ready to help. WB lived a life of integrity and strong faith. He loved Jesus and he loved his family. He has been a member of First Baptist Church for 72 years. WB was an avid fisherman and enjoyed sitting on the swing at Cozy Point watching sunsets and fish hitting the surface of Toledo Bend Lake.
WB is preceded in death by his parents Aaron Bloomer Lindsey and Gracie Lee Adkins Lindsey, seven brothers (Aaron “Sonny Boy”, J. D., Waddell, Cedric, Charles, William Carol I and William Carol II) and six sisters (Onetha, Mary Lou, Ledavon, Billie Dove, Bobby, and Carla).
Wilder is survived by his wife of 76 years, Dorothy White Lindsey; his sister Bettie Lindsey Anderson, three daughters, Wilder Lane Book and husband Don of Natchitoches, Patrician Ann Gruber and husband Max of Anthem, AZ, and Ginger Lindsey Picone of Houston, Tx; eight grandchildren, Troy Neil Book and wife Teri, Eric Lindsey Book and wife Kelley, Gregory Ward Book and wife Dawn, Tara Angella Koehler and husband Shane, Anna Gruber LaBenz and husband Mike, Lisa Gruber Jones and husband Dustin, James Wilder Picone, Leslie Allison Hickman and husband Zach, 18 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Troy Book, Eric Book, Jimmy Picone, Connor Book, Wilson Book, and David Koehler.
