BILL EVANS, SR.

Bill Evans of Troy, Texas went home on Sunday, November 25, 2018. Bill was born November 25, 1932 and left this earth on his 86th birthday to meet our heavenly Father.

Bill was born in Tazewell, Tennessee to Dit Sr. and Harriet McNew Evans. He was the couple’s oldest son of fourteen children. The family made their home in a log cabin on Laurel Mountain in Pineville, Kentucky.

Bill met the love of his life, Betty Lou Foust of Lima, Ohio at a skating rink. He married his blue-eyed beauty in 1954. Four loving sons soon followed: Bill Jr, Joseph Phillip, John Wayne and Larry Ray.

Bill was a member of the Carpenter’s Local Union. He was a carpenter by trade remodeling homes and building commercial properties. To provide for his family, Bill lived and worked in Ohio, Michigan, Florida, and Colorado before settling in Texas. He made a home of forty-six years in Troy, TX where many fond memories were made. Bill retired in 1994 from Cloud Construction in Temple, TX.

The last two years, he and his wife lived in Georgetown to be near his son John, for whom he was grateful for his love and never-ending care.

Bill is survived by his wife of 64 years, his four sons, Bill Evans and wife Lisa of Gladewater, TX, Joe Evans and wife Sherrell of Seguin, TX, John Evans of Cedar Park and Larry Evans and wife Kathy of Rice, TX.; 10 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Bill is also survived by his sisters Elsia Landis of WV, Cindy and husband Ernest Rexrode of VI, Dell Wayne and husband Donnie Boruff, Jewel and Haulie Marshall, brothers Buster and wife Rosie Evans and Roy and wife Pam Evans all of OH. He will also be missed by sisters-in-law Jean Evans of KY, Donna Evans of WY and Myra Evans of OH.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters: Edna Hall, Delsa Evans, Rosie Landis, Beatrice Nicely (half-sister) and five brothers: Roscoe, Herman, Dit Jr., Bob and Lee Evans (half-brother).
Pallbearers honorably serving will be grandsons Nathan Evans, Joey Evans, Jonathan Evans, Colby Evans and grandsons-in-law Javier Campos and Bobby Barnard.
Services will be held at Hewett-Arney Funeral Home on December 1, 2018 with a visitation at 10:00 a.m. and service at 2:00 p.m. Interment at Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple, TX.
