James was a Dairyman, Constable and Deputy Sheriff of Fresno County, he was also the owner of Friant Towing Garage and Mini Mart. He loved to hunt and fish and he treasured his quiet time.
James is survived by his wife, Greta Pickens; son Robert A. Pickens; daughter Deborah A. Errecart; son James D. Pickens; son Steven K. Pickens; and daughter-in-law Cindy Pickens; son-in-law Rick Errecart.
