Death Claims
Mrs. Anna Hurd
Age Of 76

This community was shocked and saddened when word was received in Moulton of the death of Mrs. Anna Hurd, who passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Adams in Centerville, early Wednesday morning, following an extended illness.
Mrs. Hurd was well known in this community where she had made her home for many years. For some time she and Mr. Hurd made their home in the Orleans community, but later moved to Moulton. Mr. Hurd died in 1937. Since that time Mrs. Hurd had made her home with her children.
She was a quiet unassuming lady who by her pleasing personality made many and lasting friends.
Many of her active years were devoted to church work and it was in the background of deep religious atmosphere that she reared her family.
The passing of Mrs. Hurd leaves a vacancy not only in the family circle but among the many friends who loved and respected her.
Born in Davis County, Iowa, on July 11, 1869 she grew to womanhood in this community. She was married to Wm. Hurd on Dec. 28, 1890, and to this union was born six children, one son dying in infancy.
Surviving are Mrs. Ward Daniels and Mrs. Luther Horn, of Moulton; Mrs. Paul McDanel, of Mystic, Carl Hurd, of Ottumwa, and Mrs. George Adams of Centerville. Other relatives and many friends also mourn her departure.
Funeral arrangements are pending word from a grandson, Cpl. Gene Horn, of Ft. Riley, Kans., and will probably be Friday afternoon in Moulton at the Eagle Funeral Home where the body is now lying in state.
