Harold John Lanclos, native of Opelousas, died at his home in Waimea, Hawaii, on November 24, 2018 at the age of 72. He was born at St. Rita's Infirmary on December 17, 1945, to proud parents Herman and Velma Deranger Lanclos. Harold was a graduate of South Street Elementary, Opelousas Junior High, Opelousas High School, Louisiana State University, and the Air Force Institute of Technology. While at LSU, he married Judy Cameron Lanclos, also of Opelousas. On leaving LSU, he entered the U.S. Air Force, and served in space and missile commands for twenty-four years, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His service took him and his family to Arizona, Ohio, North Dakota, and California, and he assisted in the launch of missiles, space probes, satellites, and space shuttles. His favorite job was Range Control Officer at Vandenberg AFB.
Harold was smart, funny, honest, and loving, and his friends and family mourn his loss. He loved his family, fast cars, sports (especially LSU, Saints and Green Bay football), reading, Cajun food (particularly his mama's), and spending time with friends.
Harold is survived by his wife, Judy Cameron Lanclos of Waimea, his daughter Donna Michelle Lanclos and her husband Dennis Ogburn of Charlotte, NC, his son Kyle Daniel Lanclos and his wife Jennifer Gaylord Lanclos of Waimea, grandchildren Lia Willow Ogburn, Wiley Jackson Ogburn, Dahlia Lucia Lanclos, Zinnia Delaine Lanclos and Wren Anders Lanclos, his brother Calvin R. Lanclos of Covington, his sister-in-law Delaine Cameron LaHaye of Lafayette, his godmother and aunt Betty Deranger Emon of Opelousas, and aunts Leola Deranger Doucet, Myrtle Doucet Deranger and Rose Arnaud Lanclos.
Preceding Harold in death were his parents, and granddaughter Lily Rowan Ogburn.
His family thanks North Hawaii Hospice and his wonderful caregivers, especially Carleen.
Harold's ashes will be interred at Bellevue Memorial Park Mausoleum.
