Carol Lee Hightower, 80, was surrounded by family when she went to be with the Lord on November 22, 2018 after fighting a long and courageous battle. Carol was a native Houstonian, born on August 26, 1938 to her loving parents Alfred C. Finn, Jr. and Virginia (Barnard) Finn.

She attended San Jacinto High School where she was an officer on The Golden Gauchos Drill Team. She graduated from high school in 1956 and then attended The University of Texas in Austin, Texas. From there she transferred to The University of Houston where she met and fell in love with her bestfriend and soulmate, Bill. While at The University of Houston, Carol pledged Delta Gamma Sorority and served as President. She was instrumental in getting the sorority off the ground where it would then thrive and "Sail" into the beautiful and successful sorority that it is today.

Carol loved spending time with family and friends, including her tennis friends who called themselves "The Wild Bunch". She also loved to read in abundance as she had books neatly stacked on the numerous bookshelves in their home. She also loved playing tennis several days a week and played for over 30 years. During her tennis years, she served as captain for multiple tennis leagues.

Carol also loved traveling with Bill and going on numerous family vacations with their children. They spent many winter vacations in their home in Vail, Colorado skiing the mountains, shopping and hosting many of their friends; and summers were spent at their lake house in Horseshoe Bay with their children. While at the lake house the family enjoyed many hours on their ski boat while roasting in the sun. Carol just loved to be with her immediate family, and she also loved spending as much time as possible with her extended family relatives as well. She could always be found with family or friends close by; and she was always happy and had such a positive outlook on life. She loved to encourage and support anyone who she came in contact with her kindness and inspiration.

Until just a few years ago, Carol and Bill spent all of their adult life attending the home University of Houston football games as they were avid boosters of the athletic program. Carol loved going to these games with Bill and taking their close friends. Carol, Bill and the kids found a church home at Chapelwood United Methodist Church for many years, and then they later transferred to Pines Presbyterian Church when the kids were grown. Carol had a strong faith and she also attended numerous Bible Studies through out the years.

Carol was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt. She is survived by husband, Bill Hightower; daughter, Kimberly Pell, and husband, Greg Pell; son, Craig Hightower, and wife, Lisa Hightower; grandchildren, Matthew Pell and Kendra Pell; sister, Virginia (Ginny) Studdert, and husband, Jim Studdert; and numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends who all will greatly miss her.

Visitation will be held on November 29, 2018 at 1:00 pm with funeral services to follow at 2:00 pm at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home.
