Elizabeth D. Burgess, age 87, of Centerville, died November 23, 2018, at Hospice of Dayton. She was a member of Centerville United Methodist (now known as Restoration Church) and loved reading, knitting, and spending time with her family. She was in charge of the prayer shawl group and was active in the widows’ group at her church. She traveled the world as the daughter of an Army officer and continued experiencing the world as the wife of an Army officer. She was often a 2nd mom to her children’s friends as she welcomed them into her home. She was most proud of her children and grandchildren and being a military wife. She will be remembered for having experienced a full rich life, for her commitment to caring for family and others in need, and for her love of mischief and humor. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Bob. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Steve Yelton of Cold Spring, KY; 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Duane and Sharon of Edmond, OK; Drew and Helen of Columbus, OH; Dwight and Julie of Columbus, OH; Dean and Lori of Dayton, OH; grandchildren Aleithia, Christiana, Tim, Samantha, Krystin, Michael, Jonathan, Ashley, and Chelsey; brother Bernard P. Donnelly of Sacramento, CA, and brother and sister-in-law Robert S. and Kay Donnelly of Waynesboro, PA. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, November 30, at Restoration Church (Formerly Centerville United Methodist), 63 E. Franklin St., Centerville with Pastor Tony Miltenberger. A reception will follow. Burial in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. Arrangements by Tobias Funeral Home.
