Mary was buried with her sister, Anna, on the family farm in St Ansgar, Mitchell county, Iowa. The girls were both born in New York before the family moved to Iowa. They both died shortly after reaching Iowa. The gravesites are still marked by large rocks beneath a large tree in the back yard. There were crosses marking the graves at one time but they are now gone.
