She retired after almost 20 years from Weakley County Nursing Home in Dresden, TN, where she worked as a cook. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Joyce enjoyed cooking in her younger years, and was best known for her biscuits, banana pudding, and chocolate gravy. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ in Pillowville, TN.
Joyce was born June 13, 1943, in Dresden, TN, to the late Roy Edward VanCleave and the late Inez Davis VanCleave.
She was married April 15, 1961, to Raymond D. Burnett, who survives, of Paris.
Along with her husband, she is also survived by four daughters, Frances (Johnny) White of Cottage Grove, TN, Cathy (Nyle) Carlton of Dresden, TN, Tammy (Jeffrey) Binzen of Smithville, TN, and Genning Michelle Burnett of Paris; one sister, Paulene Garner of Dresden, TN; seven grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one son, Billy Joe Burnett; two sisters, Ruth Ellis and Rose Nicks; and two grandchildren, Adam and Blake Carlton.
Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN, 38242. Visitation will be Saturday, November 6, 2021, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with the funeral service beginning at 12:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with James W. Trull officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Joyce's grandsons.
Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery in Cottage Grove, TN.
