She was born March 11, 1929 in Blackduck to John and Mary Stanko. She was baptized and confirmed at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Blackduck. She lived on the family farm until she graduated from high school.
She moved to Minneapolis following graduation and worked in the shoe department of Sears and Roebuck. She met Glendon Sodergren and they were married June 5, 1954 and they moved to the Sodergren family farm in Scandia. She joined the Elim Lutheran Church. She was a homemaker and helped on the farm until all the children were in school. She then worked at the Scandia Elementary School for more than 20 years as a teachers' aide and cook.
After her retirement in 1986, she and her husband traveled. She loved gardening and enjoyed doing crafts. She also enjoyed cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an active volunteer at church, in the community and at the Gammelgarden Museum.
She is survived by her husband, Glendon; sons, Larry (Sharon) and Jim; daughter, Debra (Brad) Davison; four grandchildren; brothers, Dan (Deloris) Stanko, Paul Stanko, and Tom (Arlyce) Stanko; sisters, Helen Rolf, Nardy Gilberg, Mary (Norm) Tradup, and Dorothy (Ernest) Choran; brother-in-law Melvin "Pat" Gilstad; sister-in-law, Joann Otterness; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John and Rudy Stanko; and one sister, Margaret.
