Frances began acting in local Albany stock productions in 1901, and in 1906 signed with David Belasco, acring on stage in his plays until 1922, and with other companies until 1929. She appeared in several early talkies in 1931 and 1932 before returning to the stage from 1933 to 1938. Beginning in 1949 she appeared in variety shows and as a guest actress on television along with stage productions before her retirement in 1959.
