Mr. Sutherland Was A Jackson Town Assessor
SHUSHAN - George A. Sutherland, 86, a lifelong resident of Shushan and an assessor for the Town of Jackson, died February 11 at home. He was born in Shushan on November 2, 1890, son of Orrin K. and Emma Graham Sutherland. He had owned and operated a farm for many years.
Mr. Sutherland was a member and elder of Shushan United Presbyterian Church and a director of the Jackson Fire Insurance Co.
He is survived by his widow, the former Barbara Roberson; two daughters, Mrs. Delbert Ely of North Hebron, Mrs. Manning Miller of Granville; a sister, Mrs. John Ackley of Salem; seven grandchildren.
Services were conducted Monday at Charles A. Ackley Funeral Home by the Rev. Fergus Cochran, pastor of the Shushan church. Interment will be in Woodlands Cemetery, Cambridge.
