Wanda L. WALTERS
April 02, 1934 - November 12, 2018

WALTERS, Wanda L. age 84 passed away on Monday, November 12, 2018, in Andover, Massachusetts. She was born in Kentucky in 1934 to a clan of determined survivors who moved to Ohio to find a better life; Wanda’s early life was marked by poverty and loss. Losing her beloved mother at 16 and her loving grandmother at 18, she moved into the YMCA while completing high school. Revealing her great resilience and grit, she went on to get further education and become an esteemed executive secretary. At home her children watched in awe as her fingers flew across a typewriter with amazing accuracy, and steno pads revealed cryptic letters in shorthand. Her fearless career life, including starting two businesses, demonstrated to her children that the only things you regret are the things you did not try. Wanda married Charles Walters in 1959. By 1964, she had three children, Lisa, Cindy, and Eric. She raised her children with great care and selflessness, making sure they had every advantage that she did not have. She was extremely proud of their accomplishments. Those who knew her as a grandmother knew her devotion to her grandchildren; Claire, Beau, Olivia, Ingrid, and Henry. It was so much fun to watch her take pleasure in their lives. Her five grandchildren called her “Nannie,” and she filled that role so completely, everyone, including adults, began calling her that as well.

“Nannie” leaves to grieve her passing, three children; Lisa, Cindy, and Eric Walters; son in law Geoff LeBlond; daughter-in-law Heidi Walters; and the great joys of her later life, her five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Walters, in 2009.

Funeral services will be held at 12Noon Tuesday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. followed by entombment in Rose Hill Burial Park Mausoleum
