November 23, 1933
Mrs, Marie Rollenhagen nee Berges, was born on the 19th day of April, 1866, in the villiage of Itter, state of Hessen, Germany, and was baptized in the name of the Triune God on the 8th day of the following month. At the age of thirteen, after her preliminary instructions in the Word of God, she was confirmed in the Lutheran church. In the year 1882 she emigrated with her parents from Germany. The family then settled on a farm five miles south-west of Onaga, Kansas. On April 29, 1886 she was united in holy wedlock with Franz E. Rollenhagen. For 24 years they made their home at Wheaton, Kansas. Here the Lord blessed them with eleven children. In 1910 they came to Julesburg, Colo., and settled at the present home of the family, sixteen miles southeast of Julesburg. Two years later on July 20, her husband was taken from her death. In the last years her health has been failing and on Wednesday, Nov. 8, the Lord called her home.
She leaves to mourn her departure six sons: Carl, Frank, Edwin, Earl, Raymond of Julesburg, Colo., and Walter of Onaga, Kansas; three daughters, Mrs. Theresa Wegner of Onaga, Kans., Mrs. Dorothy Menter of Big Springs, Nebr., and Mrs. Frances Pebler of Kimball, Nebr., seven grandchildren; one brother, Wm. Berges of Big Springs, Nebr., and other friends and relatives.
Her husband and two daughters, Esther Rollenhagen, and Mrs. Myrtle Kolterman of Duluth, Kans., preceded her in death.
The days of her earthly pilgrimage were sixty-seven years, six months, and twenty days.
After services in the church at Venanga, Nebr., on November 11, the remains were committed to the ground in the Venanago cemetery. Rev. E. W. Scheck, Lutheran pastor of Julesburg, Colo., officiated.
