Eugenio and his brother Giulio (aka Julius von Blaas, 1845-1923) received their initial education in painting from their father. Eugenio became known for his Venetian portraits and scenes of every day life. Giulio specialialized in animal and military scenes as well as portraits. Eugenio established himself in Venice as the leading painter of the Venetian genre and Giulio established himself in Vienna, Austria.
Eugenio's paintings were exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Fine Art Society, New Gallery, Arthur Tooth and Sons, all in London and the Venice Biennale Exhibitions. He was a prolific painter and his large body of work can be found in public and private collections throughout the world.
In 1870 he married Paola Prina and they had two children. Their daughter Agnesina was born in 1871 followed by a son named Giulio in 1888.
