Martha's mother, Katherine Pate Hinton, was the youngest child of William & Catherine Pate of Henry Co GA. William was in the first group of men who were commissioned as Justice of Peace in newly formed Henry County in 1823. He had removed there from Lancaster Co SC. Martha's maternal aunts and uncles were Rebecca Pate Hulsey, Elizabeth Pate Shaw, Nancy Pate Hulsey, John Pate, William Pate, Aaron Pate and Thomas Pate.
Martha was the mother of at least 5 children: Madison Timothy, John E, Andy B, Robert S and George L Aubrey. She died before the 31 Mar 1903 Confederate Pension Application that her husband filed in Red River Co TX.
