Theodore “Ted” C. Burk, 83, a resident of Silver City, NM entered into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at La Posada Mesilla Valley Hospice in Las Cruces, NM following a short battle with cancer. He was born December 30, 1934 in Amarillo, TX to Horton C. Burk and Ina May Hopkins. Ted proudly served his country with the U.S. Army from 1961-1962. He was a member of Gideon International. He served as a Deacon for the First Baptist Church in Central, NM and Silver City. He also was a member of Western NM University Alumni, Grant County Educators, and 25-year teacher at Snell Middle School in the Cobre District. Ted worked most of those years teaching wood shop and after retirement, he was well known for making handmade wooden bowls that he displayed at local art shows. Ted was often praised by his sons and friends for being obedient to the Lord and providing them with spiritual guidance.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jewell Burk of the family home; four sons, Jonathan (Tasha), David (Tassie), Nathanael (Jeanette), and Daniel Burk (Jaretta); God-son, George Pendleton Jr., God-daughter, Jewell Eva Burns; twenty-one grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister. He is preceded in death by his parents Horton and Ina May Burk, brother James Grady Burk (Annette) and sister Bonnie Eudaly (Martin). Visitation will be Friday, November 2 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Terrazas Funeral Chapels. Funeral Service will be celebrated on Saturday, November 3 at 9:30 a.m. at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Pastor Rod Chandler officiating. Concluding service an interment will follow at Memory Lane cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jonathan, David, Nathanael, and Daniel Burk, George Pendleton Jr., and Tannon Burk.
