Derek Rashon Anderson, 30, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, formerly of Newport departed this life Tuesday, October 23, 2018. He was born January 17, 1988 to Sammy Lee Anderson and Brenda G. Dicus and was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Derek was a 2007 graduate of Newport High School where he was known as "Derty", and he enjoyed video games, weight lifting, Honda Cars, Spiderman, and animated cartoons. He was a health nut, and loved the military and his family. Derek joined the United States Army May 12, 2009 and was an Ordinance Specialist.
He was preceded in death by his father; Sammy Lee Anderson, grandparents; Allen and Lorene Dicus, and uncle; Ricky Dicus.
His survivors are his mother; Brenda G.
