John was a retired Warehouseman for the Navy Depot in Mechanicsburg. He was a graduate of Bishop McDevitt High School, Class of 1964 and served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and was a Purple Heart Recipient. John was a life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and was currently serving as Commander. He was also a member of the South Mountain V.F.W., Post #6771, American Legion Post #26, Marine Corps League Post #1386 all of Dillsburg; St. Aloysius Club, Steelton; and was a former Honorguard member at Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
John is survived by his wife Susan E. (Radel) Botchie; a son, John T. Botchie; a daughter, Natalie Botchie; two granddaughters, Alexis and Chloe; and two brothers, Michael and Stephen Botchie.
Services will be held Tuesday, November 6, 2018, at 11:00 am in the Cocklin Funeral Home, Inc., 30 N. Chestnut St., Dillsburg. Burial with full military honors will be held in the Ft. Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 10-11 am at the funeral home.
