2 Feb 2004: Esther L. Gerhart, 88, Fredericksburg, Lebanon County, formerly of Bern Township, died Jan. 30 in Spang Crest Manor, Lebanon, where she had been a patient for one week. Born in Bern Township, she was a daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Schaeffer) Wayne. Gerhart was the owner and operator of Esther's Restaurant, Fredericksburg, from 1956 until 1981. She was a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Womelsdorf. Gerhart is survived by son Larry C., and daughter Nancy J. (Gerhart) Smith, both of Fredericksburg. Other survivors include sister Laura (Wayne) Hoyer, Bernville; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
