Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at First Friends Church in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown. Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown has been entrusted with arrangements.
David was born July 16, 1951, to George and Jeannette (Stephens) Leach in Marshalltown. He graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1969. While in high school, David was employed as a custodian with the Times Republican and the Marshalltown School District. After graduation, he worked at the YMCA for four years, leaving there to become the Miller Junior High custodian where he worked for 34 years, retiring in 2003. After retirement, he assisted his good friend, Gary Ferneau, with light maintenance items at the Embers. David was a member of First Friends Church in Marshalltown. He enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling, traveling, and visiting with family. He has been to many World's Fairs. David was an avid Chicago Cubs and Kansas City Royals fan. He loved to watch NASCAR racing.
David is survived by a sister, Georgette (Scott Parido) McCreary; three nieces, Nickie Heisel, Jennifer McCreary, Melody McCreary; and a nephew, John David McCreary.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
