Eddie "Dean" Baker, Jr. 50, of Mooresville, NC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 8, 2017 after courageously fighting a battle with lung cancer. Dean was born in Mooresville, NC on October 20, 1966. He was the proud son of Maryann Sines Baker and Eddie Dean Baker of Mooresville, NC. [Grandson of Fred Lee Baker].
Dean was a graduate of Mooresville High School and a graduate of Basic Law Enforcement at Mitchell County Community College. He served both Mooresville and Iredell counties as a police officer for over 12 years. Dean was the proud owner/operator of a family owned freight business and eventually settled into a position with Mountain Air Cargo conducting shipping & receiving, a HAZ Mat specialist and Aircraft Tool Coordinator.
Dean loved airplanes, enjoyed flying remote controlled airplanes, helicopters and was an amazing carpenter.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife, Diane Dahl Baker; sons, Logan Dean Baker and Samuel Dillon Baker of Mooresville, NC. He is also survived by 2 step-sons, Robert Henry Steinberg, II of Los Angeles, CA and Tyler William Steinberg of Charlotte, NC.
Dean is preceded in death by his brother, Mark Anthony Baker and sisters, Kimberly Jeanette and Heather Elizabeth Baker.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, on Monday, June 12, 2017, at Willow Valley Cemetery, Mooresville, with Rev. Eddie Graham officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:30 PM, Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made payable to Dean's cancer fund (a private fund the family has set up to bless others in need) or Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
