Mr. Matlock was born in Marshall County, Alabama. The family moved to Bossier Parish in 1849 and settled in the Mott community.
Son of Charles Edward & Margaret Elvira (Holloway) Matlock; he married Miss Charlotte Dudney 7 January 1869. She died in 1877. They had three children, George, Ida Lee, and Harriett.
On 14 February 1883, he married Miss Clara O. Lewis.
Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Mrs. George Taylor (Ida) Stroud and Mrs. Marshall Alonzo (Harriett) Anderson; one son, Richard H. Matlock; a number of grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Mr. Matlock was the GG-grandfather of Kay McMahan-Noska, my cousin (1C1R), who died in 2004. We were researching other shared family membes.
