Sylvia Garcia, 63, of Dimmitt passed away Friday, October 26, 2018 in Dimmitt. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Dimmitt with Abel Vargas, Sr. and Abel Vargas, Jr. officiating, burial to follow at Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Family and friend visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 -8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Sylvia was born January 4, 1955 in Batesville, Texas to Jose Trevino and Sophia (Saldana) Gil. Sylvia has been a lifelong resident of Dimmitt. She married Jose Garcia on February 3, 1971 in Dimmitt. Sylvia enjoyed cooking meals for her family and especially for her grandchildren, she enjoyed gardening geraniums, roses and all flowers in general; she had the pleasure of sitting on her back porch listening to the waterfall of her pond and the birds coming in for water, she liked to fish and enjoyed mowing her grass, listening to music, dancing and was fond of her grey cat. Sylvia was very family oriented and loved her family and adored and loved spoiling her grandchildren; she was the rock of her family.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband Jose Garcia of Dimmitt; her children Eva Jane Campolla and her husband Manuel of Dimmitt; Joe Garcia, Jr. and his wife Elaine of Runaway Bay, Texas; Connie Garcia and Jessica Lopez and her husband Jessie all of Dimmitt; siblings Lydia Vargas and her husband Abel; Rene Gil and Mario Gil all of Dimmitt and Clemencia Rendon of Amarillo; seven grandchildren Lauren Lopez, Fidel Garcia III, Ethan Lopez, Hannah Lopez, Zechariah Lopez, Angelica Padilla and Jared Padilla.

Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents and a brother Jose David Gil.
