Doris Macy Coleman, 86, of Penola passed away Friday, October 26, 2018 after a short illness. Born in Troy Ohio, she was the widow of Wickham Byrd Coleman, Sr. and the matriarch of Coleman Farm.
She was an active member of Carmel Baptist Church and one of her great joys in life was having an open door at the farm and a place at the table for anyone that came in. She loved her VPI football, unless they were playing Ohio State. Doris was known, county-wide, for her brownies.
Survivors include her son, Wickham B. Coleman Jr. (Debra); four grandchildren, Bradford Coleman, Bridget Coleman Turpin, Robert Seward (Apryl) and Pamela Seward; three nephews, Allen Coleman (Marianna), Mark Coleman (Sissy) and Matthew Coleman (Jackie); two nieces, Amy Coleman Lehman (Gary) and Heidi Coleman (Tom); four great nephews, Douglas Coleman, Thomas Coleman, Ben Coleman and Coleman Lehman; three great nieces, Jennifer Coleman (Tom and Ava), Monica Coleman and Madison Coleman; a great grandson, Henry Turpin; great granddaughter, Hartlee Seward; great-great niece and nephew, Clara Coleman and Kaiden Coleman; two sisters, Geneva Brunk and Margaret Brown and other extended family members in Ohio.
The family will receive friends at the Bowling Green chapel of Storke Funeral Home, Sunday, October 28th from 6:00 – 8:00pm. A funeral service will be on Monday, October 29th at 11:00am in Carmel Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
