Mieczysław Bohatkiewicz was born in Krykały near Duniłowicz in the Vilnius region , son of Stanisław and Józefa from Zienkiewicz. One of his younger brothers was also a priest.
At first he took education at home, and then in a common school in Sitka near Parafianowa . He continued his education at the Middle School in Budsław , Dokszyce, and the episcopal gymnasium in Nowogródek . There he joined the Seminary. In 1925, the diocese of Pinsk was established and the seminary moved to Pinsk . On August 23, 1933, he was ordained a priest .
In 1933, he started working as a teacher in the Lower Seminary in Drohiczyn and at the same time undertook studies at the University of Warsaw . In the years 1936-1939 he was the prefect of the junior high school in Łuniniec . After the outbreak of the war in September 1939 (the school is closed), he went to his younger brother, Father Stanisława, who was a parish priest in Puszki in the county of Braslaw . In the nearby Pelicans, he took over the vacant presbytery . In November 1941 he moved to Drysa to serve Catholics who had been deprived of priestly service for many years. His pastoral activity did not please the occupiers. He received warnings from Marian priestswith drui about his impending arrest by the Gestapo . However, he remained at the police station. On January 16, 1942, he was arrested and imprisoned in Brasław . He was taken from Braslav to a prison in Berezhev . On March 4, 1942, Fr. Mieczysław Bohatkiewicz together with a group of prisoners was shot in the Borek forest. Mieczysław Bohatkiewicz was beatified by John Paul II in Warsaw on June 13, 1999 in a group of 108 blessed martyrs. Among them were priest. Władysław Maćkowiak and priest Stanisław Pyrtek, shot together with Mieczysław Bohatkiewicz.
