Evans E Banbury, 93, of Scottsburg IN died Tuesday, May 15 2007 at Scott Memorial Hospital. He was born October 28 1913 in Pratt Kansas to J.C. & Emma Francis Banbury, both deceased. Evans moved to Scottsburg in 2002 after having resided in Colby Kansas and moving to Oklahoma City in l993. He was married to Virginia Schisler Banbury who survives. Evans was a graduate of Kansas State University and retired as the Director of Agriculture Experimental Station in Colby Kansas which is a part of Kansas State University. He received the county agents' Distinguished Service Award and numerous state and county awards for outstanding contributions in soil & water conservation over his 35 years of dedication & leadership in agricultural education and research in Kansas. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII serving in the south Pacific. Memberships included Scottsburg United Methodist Church, Goodland Rotary, Goodland Chamber of Commerce, Colby Rotary, a Rotary Fellow, & the American Legion in Colby KS. Survivors along with his wife Virginia; daughter, Melanie Foster (Erle) of Scottsburg; granddaughter, Shannon Howser (Patrick) of Scottsburg; great grandsons, Evan Howser & Ryan Howser of Scottsburg. Also preceded in death by 4 brothers, 2 sisters, & a great granddaughter, Camryn Howser. Visitation: 9am-11am, Friday, May 18 2007 at Scottsburg United Methodist Church in Scottsburg. Funeral Services: 11am Friday at the church. Burial in Scottsburg Cemetery. Rev Doug Wallace officiating. Military Graveside Services at the cemetery.
