Elijah and Anna are buried on farm land once owned by Elijah and deeded to son Martin 15 April 1850(Book 13, P 367). The deed states it was a gift of love and consideration, 160 acres located N.E. Quarter of section 23, twp 16N, Range 5W. Many deeds are found in Hendricks Co. In. for Elijah and sons dating from 10 May 1833. In a biographical sketch found in "History of Hendricks County" p 536 on Jeremiah Tinder he states Elijah was a native of Scotland, and his mother Anna a native of Germany. We do not contest the validity that the Tinders were from Scotland, yet all census records state Elijah was born in Virginia. According to a record found on Anna's father Samuel Martin, Sr. it states Samuel Martin. Sr. was son of Henry and Mary Ann Martin and Henry was the eldest son of of the immigrant John Joseph Martin.
Elijah accompanied his parents to Woodford Co. Ky. In 1806, James Tinder, Sr. and wife Sarah granted 18 acres to Elijah for "Consideration of love and affection to Elijah". Book "D", P 58. Elijah cared for his parents the remainder of their lives. Elijah added to his land holdings and in March 1816 Elijah and Anna sold their land to Dudley Mitchum and moved to She1by Co. Ky. Book "G", p 65. Elijah always included in all deeds where he was moving and where he had moved from. Elijah is listed in the Tax Lists of Woodford Co. Ky. 1800 thru 1815. In 1819 Elijah is listed as living on Gusto Creek with the value of his land $4770.00, Shelby Co. Ky. His youngest dau Susan was married in Shelby Co. Ky. in 1833, so Elijah evidently moved to Hendricks Co. In. after this marriage. Another biographical sketch found in "History of Boone, Hendricks and Clinton Counties" on Elijah's grandson Lt. John W. Tinder states Elijah settled five miles northwest of Danville in the woods, and he remained there until his death, which occurred at about eighty-seven years of age.
