Ethel Catherine Dwyer (1914-2007)

Ethel Catherine Dwyer (née Eschberger) died at the Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon, Ohio on May 12, 2007. Born in Buffalo, New York, on November 7, 1914 to Albert Eschberger and Charlotte Eschberger (née Dusenbury) she wed Joseph J. Dwyer in Buffalo in 1939 and was married to him until his death on March 3, 1986. She was employed by the New York State Bureau of Unemployment before retiring to Florida in 1973, where she volunteered for Meals on Wheels for many years. Ethel was a member of Saint Ignatius Roman Catholic Church in Tarpon Springs, Florida. In 2000 she moved to Mount Vernon, where she resided until her death. She was known for her sense of humor, her love of animals, and her indomitable spirit.

Ethel is survived and will be greatly missed by her son Eugene Dwyer and his wife Ellen Mankoff of Mount Vernon; her grandson, Michael Dwyer, of Berkeley, California; her niece, Lynne O'Day, of Fishers, Indiana; and numerous grand nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Mildred Sweeney, her nephew David Sweeney, and by her husband.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 5 PM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at the Curlew Hills Memory Garden in Palm Harbor, Florida, where she will be buried next to her beloved husband Joseph.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
