Her funeral service will be at 11 AM Monday October 22, 2018 at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home in Bloomington. Pastor Walt Baertsch will officiate. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 AM at the memorial Home.
Donna was born September 8, 1927 in Bloomington, the daughter of Walter Edward and Henrietta Haskell Robitske. She married Robert Martin Simpson on September 15, 1946, in Bloomington. He preceded her in death as well as her parents, one son in infancy and two brothers.
Surviving are three children, Robert W. (Carol) Simpson, Bloomington; Rick N. (Marilyn) Simpson, Normal; and Ellen “Sue” (Ron) Litherland, Bloomington; 7 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and one sister, Shirley Knuth, Normal.
Donna was a member of East White Oak Bible Church in Carlock. She loved the Lord with all her heart. She worked multiple jobs including State Farm in her youth, General Electric and Kaiser Agriculture and The Little Theater on The Square in Sullivan, IL. Donna loved flowers-she could take a single leaf and in months it would be a flourishing plant. Music was also her joy-she would even sing and whistle while hanging up laundry in the back yard.
Memorials may be made to East White Oak Bible Church in Carlock or Special Olympics.
