William Treacy Obituary

On April 25th at his residence, Peel, William Treacy, aged 75, a native of Tipperary, Ireland.
William Treacy, who has gone to receive the reward of a life well spent, was, with his father, in the van of those gallant old patriarchs, who, fifty years ago, pushed into the dense forests of Western Ontario and laid the foundations of what are now flourishing parishes. Those who now enjoy all the graces and advantages of ample religious instruction have reason to be grateful to those sturdy Catholic pioneers who, through thick and thin, kept the faith and handed it down untarnished to their children and grandchildren. They are passing from among us, but years hence they will be remembered with veneration and gratitude, for the memory of the just liveth forever. The deceased was the brother of Messrs. Thomas and Patrick Treacy, and to them and his children we tender the expression of sincere sorrow which we feel, in common with the numerous friends of the late William Treacy. May he rest in peace.
