Geraldine was a selfless woman who was ALWAYS thinking for others and doing all that she could to help them. She was a true earth angel. In 2013 she proved this to the public when she saved the life of a suicidal woman while on route driving her bus.
Geraldine was recognized by the city of Toledo and was awarded the Meritorious Public Service Award in a public ceremony.
Geraldine was a proud ATU Local 697 member. For her brave and compassionate action in saving the woman's life, she was flown to San Diego and recognized and awarded by her International Union at their Convention.
Geraldine loved to cook. Cooking was her passion. It soothed her and she found great pleasure in cooking large amounts of food just to feed others and see them smile. She also loved spending time with her family and friends, gardening and to shop. Her work ethic was strong but her love for others was indescribable. If you didn't approach Geraldine with a smile she made sure that you didn't walk away until you had one. She will be missed dearly by everyone who was lucky enough to have crossed her path. Especially by her loving family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Louise Davis, brothers Jerry Mitchell and Sam Culver and grandchild Lemonya Clark. Geraldine is survived and will be missed by her children Catherine Mitchell, Cherine Mitchell, Christopher (Tina) Mitchell, Germane (Kristy) Mitchell, Charminica Hughes and Sylvia Valdez Lathon, brother Johnny (Pamela) Mitchell, 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery.
"Geri" as her TARTA work family knew her was part a of a close knit group of friends that were more like her second family. We all love and miss her very much, forever and always.
