Born July 6, 1936, in Cleveland County, son of the late Walter Henry Barnett (1908–1957) and Lottie Lou Jones Barnett (1909–1978); husband of the late Betty Sue Viola Hamby Barnett (1938–2014).
Owner and operator of Barnett's Tires, was a member of Polkville United Methodist Church, served on the Polkville Town Council for 27 years, and was a member of the Camp Call Masonic Lodge #534.
Survivors include a son, Mitchell Barnett; daughters, Carolyn Hudson (Mitchell) and Pat Barnett; granddaughter, Dawn Hudson; brothers, Douglas "Doug" Barnett (1948–2019) and Charlie Barnett; and sister, Sheila Mathis (Ray).
Also preceded in death by his sons, Bobby Barnett, Jr. and David Lee Barnett (1962-1962), Infant Son Barnett (1967-1967); daughter, Barbara Sue Barnett (1959-1959); brothers, William Barnett (1943-1943), Richard Barnett (1946–1946) and Bate Barnett; and sisters, Betty Lee Barnett Irvin (1933–2011) and Barbara Diane Barnett (1952-1953)

The funeral service was held at 3:00 pm, Friday, October 12, 2018, at Polkville United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Lovelace and Rev. Jimmy McKee officiating; burial in Elliott Cemetery.
