He worked as the store manager for Ace Hardware in Elwood and he was an avid outdoorsman.
David was a founding member of Team Bowers and was a former Adams Central Assistant Wrestling Coach.
He is survived by 3 brothers, Ray (Dee) Bowers of Hebron, Charlie (Carol) Bowers and Jim (Janet) Bowers both of Monroe; 5 sisters, Edna (Dave) Nieport of Dayton, OH, Donna Smith, Janet Bentz, Jean (Larry) Braun, and Ann (Greg) Andrews all of Decatur; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews, whom he adored.
David was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Bowers, brothers-in-law, Ron Smith and Steve Bentz; and four nephews, Tim Bowers, Scott Smith, Art Templeton, and Paul Phillips.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, with Father David Ruppert officiating. Visitation 2 hours prior from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the St. Mary’s Parish Hall and a reciting of the Holy Rosary will be at 4:30 p.m.
A Committal will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.
